July 25, 1988—The League’s Tim Murphy brings the remains of 2,033 aborted babies, including several pairs of twins, which he spent several days counting and identifying, to a mortuary to be prepared for a proper burial. The bodies were found on the loading dock of Vital-Med Laboratory in Northbrook, Illinois, after a tip from a lab employee. They would be buried a few days later at a ceremony officiated by Cardinal Joseph Bernardin. The foot of one of the babies is pictured to the right.
