Aurora Zoning Case Update–Planned Parenthood Tries to Expand

It’s been over two years since Planned Parenthood opened the doors of their “Abortion Fortress” in Aurora, Illinois. This facility, one of the largest abortion clinics in the country, opened under a cloud of deceit and sparked nation-wide controversy.

Immediately after they opened, the League, with help from local pro-lifers and the Thomas More Society Pro-Life Law Center, Chicago, filed several lawsuits against Planned Paenthood and the City of Aurora.

Perhaps the most important of these lawsuits is the zoning suit, which alleges that not only is Planned Parenthood’s final plan riddled with smaller zoning violations, but that the zoning of the property itself forbids the a non-profit medical facility such as Planned Parenthood from operating there.

What’s more, with the lawsuit now before Judge Neal Cerne in the Illinois 18th Judicial Circuit Court, Planned Parenthood is attempting to expand their already enormous property by adding additional parking spaces while their property’s zoning is in dispute.

As if that weren’t enough, they’re using lies about pro-lifers as the basis for installing more parking—claiming their staff have to “walk a gauntlet” of pro-lifers to get to work. But could it be they really want to add more parking because the lawsuit against them in state court claims that they were short of the required amount of spaces by dozens?

Visit the Families Against Planned Parenthood website to find out more about the latest events in Aurora and how you can help pro-lifers there stop Planned Parenthood. Make sure to check out Eric Scheidler’s detailed blog post on the parking expansion, including a video of Planned Parenthood’s landscaper pitching their lies to the Aurora Planning Commission. You can also catch up on the ongoing prayer, protest and sidewalk counseling efforts that the pro-lifers of the Illinois Fox Valley have been carrying out over the past two years.
